Regenerative Farming: Working with Nature

Updated: Sep 27, 2023

Regenerative agriculture aims to protect the environment while providing healthy, nutrient-dense food. Currently the world’s topsoil is eroding, farmland is decreasing, and the population is growing.[i] We need to rethink and enhance farming practices to be sustainable.

As grain farmers, we focus our attention on practices that allow us to rebuild topsoil, improve water filtration, enhance the fertility of the land, and to preserve the natural diversity of the soil’s microorganisms.

This includes:

- Regular crop rotation

- Use of organic inputs, such as livestock manure

- Limiting tillage

- Planting cover crops, such as nitrogen-rich legumes

Healthy soil creates a healthier world. Over time, these regenerative practices can help increase crop resiliency, quality and yield, and most importantly, help reverse climate change by sequestering carbon in the soil.[ii]

Holtz Grain Limited believes in having a mutual symbiotic relationship with the land, as such we compliment our use of innovative technologies and high-performing equipment with regenerative farming practices.
